Book Sale

We’ve had our 68th Annual Scholarship Book Sale –
Thank you to the Buffalo area community for your wonderful support!!

Now it’s time to be thinking about our next sale! Watch for more details as things move along. Let’s start here:

  • The next sale will be at our traditional time – May 28-June 1, 2025. We probably won’t know WHERE until January at the earliest.
  • We are now collecting and sorting books at the same location as last year – 37 Anderson Road, in Cheektowaga near the Walden Galleria Mall.  (see map below).
  • Our working/collecting hours for the winter have been somewhat expanded – Tuesday and Wednesday 9am-1pm PLUS 10am-noon the FIRST Saturday of each month.
    • IMPORTANT – we will be closed for some days to allow our volunteers to enjoy the holidays – 11/26 & 11/27, 12/24 & 12/25, 12/31 & 1/1/25. We’ll Reopen Saturday, 1/4/25.

  • Want to help? Just stop by, even for just an hour or two, and join the fun! Watch our videos on sorting (note that date criteria have changed since recording!) and boxing up books to learn the tricks!

  • Please, no professional journals, Reader’s Digest Condensed books (except large print), magazines (except WNY Heritage), cassettes, videotapes, encyclopedias, Time/Life books, technical manuals or computer books. We do welcome puzzles and 33rpm records! All in good condition, of course – if you wouldn’t give it to a friend, we probably can’t sell it!

Also to Christ United Methodist Church for helping us out with some desperately needed temporary storage space this winter. The church has several charitable projects which align with AAUW’s mission. They would certainly appreciate donations of materials and/or, of course, monetary contributions. See Local – Christ United Methodist Church (christchurchamherst.org).

Plus kudos to the Buffalo and Erie County Library System and the NIOGA Library System for distributing our bookmarks AND to several of their branches for donating books!

Our eternal gratitude to Amherst YES, Sacred Heart Academy, and Canisius High School for the muscle power they provided to set up our tables and move the boxes collected over the winter to the appropriate areas.
